Ongoing Projects, December 2011
Much is happening around the Foundation and progress is in the air as we look forward to a productive and mindful year in 2012. Some of the positive alter is coming in the grade of new infrastructure – we recently completed structure on our new car port that tin hold four vehicles, including the Foundation van. Pi Sang, our active, knowledgeable neighbor and do-it-all handyman, oversaw the project and can be seen securing a piece of roofing in the pic below.
Other positive change tin can be seen over on the Foundation's subcontract, largely thank you to the efforts of our staff member Gordon. With sustainability and efficiency in mind, Gordon has taken it upon himself to overhaul many of our previous agricultural endeavors. Neglected chili plants are beingness freed from weeds and given proper attention, new pipes are existence installed for effective irrigation, displaced plants from effectually the foundation are being transplanted into tidy nurseries, and new vegetable seeds are beingness gently placed into well irrigated, fertilized soil. Gordon has been using environmentally friendly Indigenous Microorganisms (IMOs) to remove bad odors from beast waste (fertilizer), hasten composting, and contribute to our crops' general health. In the coming years, we hope to get more self-sustaining and less reliant on outside food. Below is a picture of some farming action.
